Reflecting the expansion of its mission to support all people with disabilities, the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities (KUCDD) has changed its name to The Kansas University Center on Disabilities (KUCD). In addition to the name change, KUCD also revised its mission and vision statements:
Mission Statement
KUCD aims to strengthen communities so that everyone can learn, work, feel included, and thrive. We do this by leading research, providing education and training, and building partnerships with people with disabilities, their families, educators, other support providers, and the community. Our approach is built on teamwork, creative ideas, and innovation.
Vision Statement
KUCD envisions a world where people with disabilities are supported to live fulfilling, self-determined lives in their community. We recognize that people face barriers and unequal treatment based on identities such as disability, race, and gender. Together, we will remove barriers and promote social justice for everyone.
