In the spring of 2024, the Capacity Building team held Showcases in TWC’s North and East Texas regions.  These events highlighted the collaborative efforts of transition vocational rehabilitation counselors and school transition educators. Their presentations demonstrated how they work together to provide students with disabilities opportunities to gain job skills, ultimately enhancing their employability outcomes. Showcases will continue in September, covering the remaining TWC regions.

About the Statewide Capacity Building Project: The Statewide Capacity Building Project is a six-year effort by the Texas Workforce Commission and Texas A&M University to improve employment and postsecondary outcomes for students with disabilities. The project focuses on starting transition planning and services earlier to ensure students are ready for employment or continuing education when they graduate. Throughout the past six years, educators and vocational rehabilitation specialists from across the state have met to identify needs, collaborate, and learn about ways to improve transition services for younger teens.
