National Training Directors Council (NTDC) in Plain Language

The National Training Directors Council (NTDC) is a group for people who lead training programs. Their main goal is to find the best ways to teach network members how to support people with disabilities.

This group acts as a "voice" for training programs across the country. They share the best lessons and tools so that every center can teach the next generation of leaders.

How NTDC Helps

The council works with training directors to give them what they need. Right now, they focus on:

  • Better Training: Helping students learn how to work with people from all backgrounds.
  • Support for Families: Creating training for people with disabilities and their family members.
  • Inclusion: Finding ways to bring community members into programs to share their experiences.
  • Building Leaders: Working with training directors to make positive changes across the nation.

How to Get Involved

Each university center in the network picks one person to be in this group. Usually, this is the Training Director or the person in charge of education. You can find the leaders of this council on the left side of the webpage.

What do members do?

  • Annual Meeting: The whole group meets once a year at the big AUCD Conference.
  • Small Groups: Smaller teams (called committees) talk over the phone or online throughout the year to work on special projects.
