This webinar will feature Dr. Mark Standing Eagle Baez from Bemidji State University in Minnesota, a renowned expert on the intersection of mental health, Indigenous culture, and disability support. Dr. Baez, a Coahuiltecan member with Mohawk and Pawnee ancestry, will present his groundbreaking work on the Sweetgrass Method. This innovative approach highlights cultural humility, continuous learning, and respectful support for individuals with disabilities, particularly within American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Dr. Baez is an associate professor in the clinical and counseling program at Bemidji State University and a licensed psychologist with extensive experience in mental health and wellness. His work has brought about significant change in Indigenous mental health practices, advocating for strengths-based, culturally sensitive approaches. He aims to integrate Indigenous traditions with Western methods to promote well-being in Native communities.
