Aida Miles, EdD, MMsc, RDN, CSP, LD, FAND, is associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine, in the Division of Adolescent Medicine.  She is the director of the UAB Leadership Education in Pediatric Nutrition Program; a training grant funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau to train professionals and students in pediatric nutrition and maternal and child health. Additionally, she serves as nutrition faculty for 2 other MCHB training grants, the LEAH grant (Leadership Education in Adolescent Health), and the LEND grant (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities).

Dr. Miles’s pediatric nutrition expertise spans three decades and has focused primarily on child and adolescent obesity, nutrition challenges of children with disabilities, and pediatric feeding and eating disorders.

Throughout her career Dr. Miles has held many leadership roles within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is the current Editor in Chief of the Academy’s Pediatric Nutrition Care Manual, the Immediate Past Chair of the Latinos and Hispanics in Dietetics and Nutrition, the Chair of the Commission on Dietetics Registration Practice Competence Committee, the South-Central Regional Director of the Academy’s Educator group, and is a board member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Foundation.
