Ian Robert Armitstead

Ian Robert is an Access to Integrated Employment Specialist at the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities. He is a Community Work Incentive Coordinator (CWIC) and Credentialed Employment Support Professional (CESP) with expertise in Social Security work incentives, disability employment, workforce development, and person-centered employment practices. In his current role, he provides benefits counseling, training, and technical assistance to individuals, families, schools, service providers, and community organizations to promote competitive integrated employment for individuals with disabilities. 

Prior to joining the Sherlock Center, Ian Robert worked as a vocational specialist supporting transition-age youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through vocational assessment, job coaching, employment retention, and person-centered employment planning. During this time, he was recognized through the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals' Person-Centered Supported Employment Performance Program (PCSEPP 3.0) for expertise in low- and high-technology employment support strategies. 

Ian Robert is pursuing a Master of Public Administration in Policy Analysis, with a concurrent Graduate Certificate in Training and Development, at the University of Rhode Island (expected August 2027). He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science & Management from the University of Rhode Island.
