Our Mission

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a group that helps people with disabilities and their families live better lives. We work with a big network of centers at universities and hospitals across every U.S. state.

Our job is to help these centers work together so that people with disabilities can be included in their communities, stay healthy, and have the support they need. We support over 150 special programs that focus on:

Learning and Training: Teaching new leaders how to help others.

Research: Finding new ways to solve issues people with disabilities face.

Helping Families: Providing direct services and healthcare.

How We Help

AUCD acts as a bridge between schools and the community. We do this by:

Speaking Up: AUCD talks with government leaders to make sure programs for people with disabilities receive the funding they need. We take the lead on big issues that affect people with disabilities.

Sharing Info: We collect stories and data to show what the network is doing in the community.

Teaching: We provide expert advice and training to our members.

Our Vision

A vision statement tells what a group's long-term goals are. It describes what the world would look like if it didn’t need AUCD.

AUCD’s vision is a world where people with disabilities live the lives they want. This includes fully inclusive and accessible communities.

Our Goals

To make a real difference over the next few years, we are focusing on these five goals:

Bring People Together: We help our members, the government, and businesses work as a team.

Stay Strong: We help our university centers stay independent and operational.

Find Funding: We look for the funding needed to keep our programs growing.

Try New Things: We plan to grow and find new ways to help people in our network and beyond.

Fairness for All: We lead the way in making sure every person with a disability is treated fairly, no matter who they are.
