Project Description:
The Center on Human Development (CHD) in the University of Oregon College of Education has received core funding as a UCEDD since its inception in 1972. This application seeks funding to continue the administration and operation of the CHD as a UCEDD and outlines a five-year work plan that (1) is responsive to the needs of Oregons DD community, (2) aligns with the values of our Community Advocacy Council (CAC) and the implementation standards of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000, (3) contributes substantively to the capacity of Oregons service delivery system to positively impact the daily lives of persons having developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families, and (4) improves professional practices and increases the number and quality of personnel who can apply those practices in school, community and higher education settings. Our 5-year plan provides goals, objectives, supportive activities and timelines for the core functions of interdisciplinary training and continuing education, community services, research, and dissemination within three broad emphasis areas that have been identified as strong needs and priorities within the State of Oregon. These emphasis areas are Early Intervention, Positive Behavior Supports-Education, and High School Transition. These emphasis areas are listed as key priorities within the 2000 Reauthorization of the DD Act, are addressed in the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities 5-year DD Council Plan (2012-2016), are supported by the Oregon Health & Science University UCEDD and Disability Rights Oregon, and draw heavily upon our organizational strengths and expertise.
