DD Community Training and Consultation
Project Description:
Provides service to family members, volunteers, direct care providers, special education teachers, transportation providers, para-professional and professional service providers from all settings providing services in Dane County for people with developmental disabilities. Provision of a variety of training, consultation and educational services for individual, small group, and larger audiences related to: 1) Providing all Adult Family Home sponsor / provider initial and continuing education (required for licensing) one-to-one and for small groups; 2) Assessing, planning and monitoring consumer health functioning and management; 3) Coordinating and accessing community health / medical care providers; 4) Providing general classification and diagnostic information regarding people with developmental disabilities across the life span; 5) Creating awareness and understanding of the needs of persons who present challenging behaviors; and 6) Training which includes information and approaches on prevention of inappropriate behaviors and utilization of non-punitive techniques in dealing with challenging behaviors.
