Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT)

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2026
Contact Information:
Project Description:
Under this contract, CCLC staff will annually deliver three face-to-face Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT) events (two 8-hour days – usually a Saturday and a following Friday), one in each region of the state (North, Central, and South). CCLC will also deliver one FEAT webinar series. All attendees will be offered follow-up technical assistance. Each training (face-to-face or webinar format) will be followed by opportunities for attendees to participate in individual (via phone, email, or videoconferencing) and group (at the area WorkOne Center) technical assistance to support them in achieving the next steps on their action plans developed during the training. Following each FEAT training, attendees will be asked to respond to an evaluation regarding the quality of the training and the impact it had on their expectations, knowledge, and decision-making regarding the employment of their family member with a disability. Supporting resources and materials will be housed in an online cloud-based storage organizational tool, to facilitate storage and ease of updating various resources and information in an easy-to-access format and location made accessible via a link but can only be edited by an account owner. CCLC will conduct outreach to schools in areas in which we are holding trainings to inform schools of the free training and encourage them to share information with the families of the transition-age students whom they teach. CCLC will network with service organizations within each region in which a FEAT training is being held to identify local speakers for each event and invite them to attend FEAT as well to learn about evidence-based practices like customized employment and available benefits and services. CCLC will provide informational sessions about FEAT to other advocacy and professional groups (e.g., service organizations and agencies, ICASE roundtable meetings and biannual conference, transition educator Cadre meetings, Work to Include regional meetings, transition advisory council) to promote attendance at FEAT. CCLC will respond to requests for information about the transition to adulthood and provide appropriate referral information to families, students, and professionals seeking additional guidance to support the transition to competitive employment for young adults with disabilities. CCLC will lead the FEAT multi-state quarterly technical assistance meetings with FEAT trainers from other states currently implementing FEAT (Kansas, Rhode Island, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New York). CCLC will update the content of the FEAT curriculum in all forms (in-person and virtual) annually.
