The College Connection to Career Development - Opportunities for Minority Youth Adults with Disabilities
Project Description:
The overall goal of the project is to develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive model for increasing the number of individuals with disabilities from the Chicago Public School (CPS)system successfully attending and completing programs of higher edcation in the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC). Pursuing venues of higher education will increase the likelihood that individuals with disabilities will seek out and obtain employment opportunitites that develop into long lasting careers instead of low-skilled minimum wage jobs. The primary target population to be served by this project are low-income minority individuals with disabilities (African Americans and/or Latinos) graduating from special education programs from CPS and pursuing post-secondary education opportunitites within the certification programs of the CCC campuses.
