Project Description:
NEED: To teach sheltered workshop clients, their families, and the agency's staff about customized employment and the various state and local resources to support their employment in preparation for the transition from sheltered to competitive employment. DELIVERABLES/GOALS: Deliver 9 Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT), face-to-face or hybrid, at the SE+ demonstration site agencies. Format will be adjusted to meet the needs of the sites. Conduct follow-up contacts for all 9 sites (via email, phone, or videoconferencing) with FEAT participants 1-2 months following attendance to review their five next steps on their action plan for employment and provide individual technical assistance (e.g., answer questions, refer to additional resources). Provide group technical assistance events held 5 months following FEAT with participants from FEAT at each of the 9 demonstration sites. ASL and CART accommodations, and others as requested, will be provided. This contract includes all travel, preparation of materials, event and accommodation scheduling, and outreach to advertise and solicit speakers for the events. EXPECTED BENEFITS: Sheltered workshop clients and their families and service providers will be able to envision a competitive employment job and how to achieve it, increasing the number of clients who are employed in the community for minimum wage or higher.
