Welcome the Children - CCDF
Project Description:
Partners for Inclusive Communities (Partners) has been providing training to early childhood professionals to support fully including children with disabilities/delays in early education classrooms and to support language access for dual language learners and their families since 2003 through the Welcome the Children (WTC) project. It is funded by the AR Department of Education Division of Elementary and Secondary Education through both CCDF and ABC funds. The overall goal of Welcome the Children (WTC) is to help early childhood educators create programs where all children are welcomed. This goal is accomplished through quality training and coaching with an emphasis on including children with disabilities and dual language learners, recognizing and responding to children's sensory needs, supporting positive behaviors, and providing language access. Along with early childhood training and technical assistance, WTC provides the Arkansas Bilingual Interpreter Credential in Education (ABICE) Training Course for oral language interpreters who work in educational settings that serve children birth through 12th grade. This credential is recognized by both early childhood and K-12 education in AR.
