Project Description:
This project is a collaborative effort between the NYS Department of Health, local health departments (LHDs) and the three University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs) (Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities, Westchester Institute for Human Development & Albert Einstein College of Medicine).
The goals of this project are to:
1. Technical Assistance to all Local Health Departments
2. Collect Regional Resources
3. Engage Families
4. Utilize Family Specialist
Each UCEDD will act as a regional center to achieve the overall goals of the project. The counties in the state of NY have been divided by region to address the needs of the children and families throughout the state. The Rochester UCEDD Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities will focus on the 28 counties west of Cortland County covering the southern tier to Erie County.
The goals for the Rochester UCEDD Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities are to:
1. Increase support to address the needs of LHD and CYSHCN and their families across our 28 county region.
2. Develop and disseminate training and educational materials for parents and providers.
