Project Description:
AbleFind is a disability resource database app for individuals with disabilities in the state of Oregon. It is being developed by Tel Woolsey, part of the technology team at UO UCEDD. Tel is a web accessibility specialist and graphic designer. Through his own life experiences, he has identified a need to gather all of the resources together in one place to help assist people with disabilities. According to the Oregon Office on Disability and Health, 28.8% of people who live in Oregon identified with a disability in a 2013 report, and resources that they need to access are typically scattered in hundreds of places on the internet, and/or don't have a strong web presence. There is no comprehensive database of services currently available to the public, and since printed materials are difficult to maintain, expensive to produce and distribute, and not accessible to everyone, he is in process of compiling resources from all counties in the state of Oregon into one easy-to-use app that will eventually be available for anyone with an internet connection.
