A Comparison of Two School-Based Interventions to Manage Anxiety in Autistic Students

Project Description:
This study will compare each approach on a variety of measures and learn about the strengths and weaknesses of each approach so that school administrators, providers and families can make informed decisions about program selection. Students (N=200): ages 8-14; medical diagnosis of autism, educational identification of autism, or suspected autism; Clinical anxiety according to parent, student or teacher report; Caregivers (N=200): caregivers of students outlined above. Interdisciplinary school providers (n=150): degreed professionals in special education, psychology, counseling, social work, speech/language pathology, OT, etc.; ability to complete study requirements including attending a training and participating in ongoing consultation; ability to deliver either ZOR or FYF-SB to a group of students with autism and anxiety.
