Project Description:
Nevada Pyramid Model Partnership (formerly Nevada TACSEI) is a collaborative, statewide initiative that provides training and technical assistance for teaching and supporting the social emotional competence of young children and their families to prevent challenging behaviors. Nevada Pyramid provides training and technical assistance to early childhood professionals and parents of children birth to 5 years old. Nevada Pyramid also provides training and technical assistance to Implementation and Demonstration sites for implementing Pyramid Model practices program-wide with fidelity, including data based decision making. Participating sites provide de-identified data to Nevada Pyramid for state-level aggregation and reporting. Teachers and providers in early care and education settings report that addressing challenging behavior is an area of need, and suspension and expulsion rates in early childhood settings exceed rates for school-age populations. Early care and education settings need the skills and support to create and maintain inclusive settings for young children with or at risk for developmental disabilities, especially those with, or at-risk for, challenging behavior. Nevada Pyramid's overall goals are to increase the implementation of social and emotional teaching strategies for young children, their families, and those that work with young children and families. Increases in appropriate skills will decrease rates of challenging behavior, suspension, expulsion, and other exclusionary discipline practices in early care and education settings.
