Fiscal Year:
2023
Contact Information:
Project Description:
conduct local vaccine outreach activities in the disability community and to increase vaccination among people with disabilities across the lifespan, their family caregivers, and direct support providers (DSPs) for persons with disabilities. There will be a concentrated focus on underserved and culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Arizona (specifically, African Americans, Native Americans, Spanish speakers, refugees) and partnering to integrate vaccination activities with existing outreach efforts. Activities include: - Convening meetings with the Arizona AZ Developmental Disabilities Network (ADDN) and other disability related partners to collaborate and ensure an organized and coordinated response to the vaccine needs in our state with our shared COVID vaccine and public workforce response dollars contributing together to that effort. We plan to build on the feedback we have heard to date from individuals and families as well as our research and activities to guide our outreach activities and development of vaccine confidence and health education materials. - Develop and disseminate credible and timely COVID-19 vaccine information for targeted groups in the disability community across the lifespan including those with IDD, their family caregivers, direct support professionals (DSPs) persons with disabilities. - Develop accessible formats of COVID-19 vaccination information, including plain language and other languages spoken in communities. - Conduct local COVID-19 vaccine outreach activities in the disability community and to increase initial series and booster COVID-19 vaccination among people with disabilities across the lifespan, their family caregivers, and direct support providers (DSPs) for persons with disabilities. - Develop and disseminate credible information regarding other CDC-recommended vaccines (such as Influenza, Tdap, monkeypox), including developing plain language vaccine confidence materials; - Conduct local outreach to promote for people with disabilities across the lifespan, their family caregivers, DSPs for older adults and persons with disabilities; and - Develop and disseminate health education materials for IDD.
