National Trainer Development Program 14
Project Description:
The National Trainer Development Program was developed for the National Park Service in partnership under a Cooperative Agreement with the Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands at Indiana University. Students are involved in the program for approximately six months. This will consist of 4-5 months of distance learning that culminates in a capstone classroom activity. The NPS employees selected for the program will earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for their efforts. Each part of the program continues builds on the other until the students graduate.
This program represents a commitment to ongoing professional development for NPS employees who want to become certified trainers. NTDP will provide endorsements of qualified instructors in the content areas of FMSS, Facility Management Business Practices, and FCAS. In additional to these topics areas, endorsements will be available via the delivery methods of webinar, and face-to-face classroom. One on one instruction will also be included as a delivery method, but it will not be endorsed.
Additionally, there is a cadre of existing qualified instructors who require continuing professional development to ensure they can continue to provide excellent instruction to those in the field. To date, a re-certification program has been developed, but it requires maintenance and upkeep to ensure that the needs of the existing instructors are being met.
Goal and Objectives
The overall goal of this project is to provide support and facilitation and curriculum for the NTDP. The objectives for the program include the following:

Use the NTDP framework to develop a new cadre of trainers who have demonstrated a high level of knowledge and skills in instruction and are competent in one or more content areas, in order to provide quality training to NPS employees at every level.
