Center:
Fiscal Year:
2014
Contact Information:
Project Description:
We believe that the national assistive technology internet site must be easy to use and employ technology to offer current access to up-to-date information and resources for all intended users. The partners propose to design and implement an interactive, customer responsive website with rich media features as well as strong, searchable opportunities for users to connect and share about assistive technology, its use and application and development. The site is conceived to offer access to a library of assistive technology, including a user rating system, social networking features to allow peer groups to exchange new uses of existing assistive technologies and ideas for new developments. Building on their collective experience, SilverTech, Inc; the University of New Hampshire and its Institute on Disability, internationally recognized as a leader in the disability field; and the Association of Assistive Technology Programs, a recognized national leader in assistive technology technical assistance and data analysis, are partnering to create web based access to assistive technology information and resources for the application of assistive technology at home, work and play. The goal of the partnership is to dramatically increase the usability of the public internet site, providing greater access to current technical and price information, partnering and educational opportunities, and information about local and regional resources.
