Project Description:
The purpose of this program is to mobilize resources within and outside of the recovery community to increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery support from substance abuse and addiction in Dearborn County, IN, and promote expansion to neighboring counties. This project is intended to support the development, enhancement, expansion, and delivery of recovery support services (RSS), specifically supports via certified peer recovery support specialists. Similarly, this project will advance the promotion of and education about addiction science and recovery. This program is principally governed by people in recovery from substance abuse and addiction through 1Voice, the peer recovery support organization of Dearborn County.
Comprehensive evaluation, including the collection and reporting of all required performance measures, will be conducted by Dr. Allison Howland and her research team from the Center for Collaborative Systems Change (CCSC) at Indiana Universitys Indiana Institute on Disability and Community. Her team and OCOF have partnered with OCOF on prior federal grants, including Project LAUNCH as well as other system of care grants, and existing protocols and mechanisms for reporting GPRA and project goals can be revised and/or expanded for this project. In addition to system of care evaluation work, CCSC has considerable experience with substance use treatment and prevention evaluation and technical assistance. Center staff have conducted evaluations and provided capacity-building technical assistance to coalitions and substance use treatment providers to help prevent and reduce substance use, including Dearborn Countys Jail Chemical Addiction Program and Recovery-Oriented System of Care, as well as SE Indianas Regional Coalition comprised of 6 Local Coordinating Councils (SEL3CT). They have also collaborated with local and regional coalitions to facilitate the use of data to inform decision- making, strategic planning, continuous quality improvement, and efforts to sustain funding.
