The Chicago ADA 25 Leadership Training Institute, planned for three-and-a-half days in December 2015 will be a short-term intensive training experience for approximately 14-16 participants with disabilities who are ready to serve in significant civic and organizational leadership roles. The primary aim of the disability co-design and co-facilitation of the Leadership Training Institute will be to adapt the core training curriculum for participants with disabilities. Content will address the historical and social forces that have significantly affected leadership opportunities for people with disabilities; issues of power, oppression, and personal roles/responsibilities through a disability lens; cultural aspects of disability; disability as an identity with potential value for leadership; and sources of support for confidence and skill-building.
