Project Description:
Project Pueblo Connections brought together families of children with disabilities and individuals with disabilities from Cochiti, Jemez, Santa Ana and Zia for a 2 ? day conference held on September, 5th - 7th 2008. This conference provided families the opportunity to be together as a family for 2 ? days away from the stress and distractions of their daily lives, creating stronger bonds and lasting memories. The conference also served as an opportunity for parents/family members to meet and receive support from other families who may share the same struggles and triumphs. The ultimate goal was to give parents/families practical skills to enhance all aspects of the lives of individuals with disabilities and the family as a whole. Families were also given skills to better advocate for services for individuals with disabilities in the education system, health care system for the community.
