Project Description:
The Center for Psychosocial Development (CPD) provides behavioral risk management services to individuals with developmental disabilities who exhibit high-risk sexual behavior. Behavioral risk management is a wrap-around approach that incorporates both internal and external management strategies to reduce risky sexual behavior, inappropriate sexual behavior, and sexual offending. The goals of the program are to ensure community safety, to increase the individual's ability to live successfully in the community, and to reduce the time and cost of external management. Specific services include risk assessment, skill training, specialized clinical case management, and technical assistance. Also, ongoing Personal Safety/Risk Reduction services are offered to women who have been victimized, remain at risk, or engage in risky sexual behaviors. Finally, professional presentations and research is done to expand professional capacity and to increase knowledge of ways to better serve individuals with developmental disabilities
