Project Description:
Sibshops seek to provide siblings with opportunities for peer support. Because Sibshops are designed for school-age children, peer support is provided within a lively, recreational context that emphasizes a kids'-eye view. They reflect an agency's commitment to the well-being of the family member most likely to have the longest-lasting relationship with the person with special needs.
The Nevada Sibling Network holds a variety of activities for siblings of people with disabilities. The NSN sponsors Sibshop Facilitator Trainings, Demonstration Sibshops, and Sibshops.
The NCED, has invited Don Meyer, creator and national expert on the Sibshop model, to train facilitators to run Sibshops in Nevada.
