IOTI - Supported Education
Project Description:
Project Focus
This project is designed to address the need to provide practical training on the Supported Education (SE) model to key personnel in institutions of Higher Education, Applied Technology Centers, and the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health in order to enhance the transition to postsecondary education for youth with psychiatric disorders. Training will be provided to 5-10 participants in at least five regional locations across the state.
Project Outcomes
25-50 key personnel in five regions of the state will have an increased awareness of what SE is and how it can improve the transition outcomes for young adults with psychiatric disabilities in postsecondary settings, and what resources are available to help implement such a program in their local communities.
Youth served by the SE programs developed as a result of this project will receive an increased level of support to not only make the initial transition to a postsecondary education setting, but more importantly, to complete their postsecondary training and transition to better long-term employment and independent living outcomes.
