Project Description:
Miniteam is an interdisciplinary intervention project for children aged 15 to 30 months and their parents or primary caregivers. The program provides group intervention designed to teach children and families activities to improve the children's areas of deficit and enhance their areas of strength. Children entering this program usually have speech and language delays or mild motor deficits, attention and behavior management issues, all of which may impede the acquisition of age appropriate play, peer interaction and learning of skills.
Central to the philosophy of the Miniteam is the participation of parents and caregivers in the therapy process. Therapists model activities for caregivers to engage in with their children. Support to the family is provided within the context of a discussion group led by a social worker.
