        Project Description:
Music and Anxiety in Williams syndrome: A whole person approach
This study aims to link musical skill and interest to a decrease in anxiety and fears in Williams syndrome (WS), a genetic disorder. Combining novel imaging, eegs and standard/specialized psychological assessments we hope to discover how teens and young adults with WS process musical sounds and if it is related to their love of music. We have currently studied 47 individuals with WS during a music camp held at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center that provides music enrichment and performance sessions and the opportunity to assess musical skill and sound processing in an in-vivo environment.
