Project Description:
The Impact Project attempts to determine the degree to which various VKC-UCEDD projects serve the state of Tennessee. Each program will ask all program participants to anonymously fill out a simple, 7-question questionnaire. Questions include the respondent's gender; race/ethnicity; highest level of education; role (e.g., individual with disability; parent; sibling or other family member, or school, community, residential, health, or mental health care provider); basic demographics on person with disabilities (if person with disabilities or family member) or of clients served by agency (if professional); and how respondents heard about this service or event (VKC publication, DD orgaization, word of mouth, etc.). Although data have been collected on only a few VKC-UCEDD projects over an 8-month span, almost 1,000 surveys have been collected and entered into an SPSS database. We hope to determine how many individuals are served overall by VKC-UCEDD programs and by each program individually; which of the state's counties we are reaching and not reaching (and by which programs); which programs reach which family members and which particular professionals; and how respondents are hearing about our programs. Beyond numbers per se, we ultimately hope to use this information to better tailor our services and recruitment to reach hard-to-reach areas and groups within our state.
