Autism Spectrum Disorders Program
Project Description:
This is a statewide program that offers graduate level coursework through the University of South Dakota; inservice training, on-site consultations and technical assistance, interdisciplinary diagnostic evaluations, family support groups and information dissemination through a variety of formats. Some of these include an email list serve; web page; books, DVDs, videos, etc available at no cost for checkout from the Wegner Center; an Autism handbook; and various Fact Sheets and other products that are downloadable from the web page.
In addition two symposiums are held yearly, one in the spring and one in the fall. A week long training session focusing on teachers and related service personnel is held during the summer. A Team Training model is available that meets over the course of six months, one weekend per month.
Staff include a communications disorders specialist, a psychologist/behavioral specialist, a special education specialist, and an Asperger Syndrome specialist.
