Project Description:
This initiative works collaboratively in the development, delivery, and evaluation of training and technical assistance programs and materials to increase the quality of early intervention supports and services for infants and toddlers with special needs in Colorado. Working in partnership with Colorado's Part C Program, Early Childhood Connections, in the Colorado Department of Education, this initiative: creates and disseminates materials to families, providers, and other stakeholders; develops a variety of educational activities; and provides technical assistance to local communities to assist them in building their capacity to provide quality early intervention supports and services. The specific areas of focus include: service coordination, Individualized Family Service Plans, Assessment, and services provided in everyday routines, activities, and places (natural environments).

JFK Partners is working with the Colorado Department of Education's Early Childhood Connections staff to support parent leadership efforts that promote inclusive communities and to provide supports and services in everyday routines, activities, and places for Part C eligible children. All the project's activities are focused on increasing the opportunities for Colorado parents to develop and use their leadership skills.
Major Goals:
Provide training and promote parent leadership in local, statewide, and national policy and legislative decisions;
Promote and support parent leadership in all Part C funded and related activities;
Promote and increase parent leadership in other related initiatives, specifically non-Part C funded early childhood and disability initiatives;
Maintain strong parent leadership on the CICC.
