Project Description:

The Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas, in partnership with the Beach Center on Disability, proposes to prepare five national leaders through the Leadership and Outcomes Program in Education and Family Policy for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (throughout the proposal for the sake of abbreviation, we refer to this program as the SCD Program ? Significant Cognitive Disability Program). The SCD program?s purpose is to make substantial and sustainable improvements in long-term outcomes for students with significant cognitive disabilities and their families. By ?students with significant cognitive disabilities,? we refer to those with moderate/severe mental retardation and severe/multiple disabilities.
