Recruiting Mentors to Promote Goal Attainment of Youth with Disabilities: A step toward self-reliance
Project Description:
This initiative is a year-long program that works with participants to provide training and support that will allow them to become self-advocates and represent disability interests within their high school and local communities. The program will combine training with case management in the process of supporting students as they develop a five-year plan and start attaining some of their intial goals before they ever leave high school. It is anticipated that participation in this project will have an impact on the potential success in individual students as they increase their leadership skills.
