Quality Education in the Last Frontier State Improvement Grant
Project Description:
Quality Education in the Last Frontier (QELF). This grant is federally
funded through the Department of Education. The grant mission is to:
improve educational services and successful outcomes for all students by
providing direct support and technical assistance, as well as facilitating
collaboration among educational stakeholders. The QELF project advocates
for full inclusion of students with disabilities in statewide education
reform activities by providing training, resources, and technical assistance
to school districts, parents, families, communities, and state agencies.
The project will focus on improving the cooperation among stakeholders to
build capacity within current systems and structures that will ensure
successful outcomes for all students.
Scope of work for the Center for Human Development included an evaluation of the QELF grant. Various education stakeholders, including Educational Board Users, Special Education paraeducators, Special Education Teachers, Special Education directors, and parents were surveyed and participated in focus groups. Data collection focused on the stakholder's satisfaction with a training that was designed to increase collaboration among stakeholders and increase inclusion of students with disabilities.
