SCEIs Early Intervention Credential

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2010
Contact Information:
Project Description:
According to the 1999 Needs Assessment survey of the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) for part C of IDEA, half of their respondents are offering training in working with infants and toddlers but 43% still do not offer specialized training in Early Intervention. The SCEIs (Skilled Credentialed Early Interventionists) Early Intervention Credential project consists of workshops for professionals and paraprofessionals, co-taught by a parent of a child with a disability. These training experiences encourage participants to review and synthesize the content of six SCEIs training modules using a "mapping" and case study process. Participants who complete the training experience are awarded the BCW (Babies Can't Wait) Early Intervention Credential. Participants incorporate best practice principles learned in SCEIs training in order to improve the quality of early intervention services provided to children and families within Georgia's Part C program.
