Children with Special Needs / Babies Can't Wait Technical Assistance

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2010
Contact Information:
Project Description:
As Georgia's Babies Can't Wait (BCW) Part C early intervention program works toward the provision of services within the natural environment, a major challenge remains in changing the practices of service providers who follow a clinic-based model. BCW has identified a need for training and technical assistance in making the paradigm shift toward a collaborative, consultative, transdisciplinary service model. Technical assistance is necessary to ensure that the priorities of BCW (collaboration, integration of learning within daily routines, linking assessment/intervention to family concerns, and accountability within the context of results-based budgeting) are achieved. As a collaborative partner, IHDD/UCEDD provides ongoing and systematic support to the statewide network of service providers and program administrators of the Part C Early Intervention program to ensure that practices reflect the knowledge and skills needed to serve the unique cultural and linguistic needs of eligible infants, toddlers and families in natural environments.
