Children With Special Needs / Babies Can't Wait Resource Library
Project Description:
According to the 1999 Needs Assessment survey of the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) for part C of IDEA, half of their respondents are offering training in working with infants and toddlers but 43% still do not offer specialized training in Early Intervention. Approximately 40% of children receiving eary intervention services in Georgia belong to minority families (GA Division of Public Health, 2001) and 10% live in homes where English is not spoken at all. In effort to increase the extent to which early intervention is infused in postsecondary education and to ensure that education promotes services offered that are culturally and linguisticallly appropriate, IHDD/UCEDD maintains a library of 100+ video tapes that are available to educators, providers, administrators and familes of children with disabilities. These videos are updated/high quality training materials, many of which address cultural competencies. IHDD maintains an up-to-date catalog of these materials and disseminates this catalog to 2000+ individuals. This project also assesses feedback from library users to keep the library relevant and effective in assisting users to improve early intervention services.
