MicroEnterprise Training & Technical Assistance Project
Project Description:
The MicoEnterprise Training and Technical Assistance Project (METTA) supports individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and support networks in becoming familiar with concept and feasibility of Micro-Enterprises. METTA works to achieve this support through the following activities:
1. Establishment of a project advisory committee
2. Involvement of key partners
3. Development of training modules
4. Marketing and outreach
5. Initial informational sessions and identification of interested persons, agencies, etc.
6. Identification of Entrepreneurs and core teams (total of five)
7. Identification of geographical areas of concentration
8. Implementation of training and technical assistance
The project accomplished the following outcomes from the activities previously outlined:
1. Training and technical assistance modules addressing content and support for the identification of a business concept through the development of a business plan.
2. Five entrepreneurs with a completed business plan and a support team to move that plan forward.
3. A minimum of 95 additional individuals with developmental disabilities who have received the information and training necessary for the foundation of a business plan.
4. A minimum of five Community Rehabilitation Providers with the ability to support individuals in micro enterprise
5. An evaluation report containing the effectiveness of this model and the identification of services and supports necessary to develop, establish and maintain a micro enterprise
6. Case study examples of the five entrepreneurs receiving intensive training and technical assistance and their outcomes
7. Enhanced collaboration among individuals, families, rehabilitation/employment professionals and the business community around micro enterprise
