Product Description:
This article describes how applied research about students with IDD in general education classrooms, mediated through a long-term relationship between the faculty at IOD) at the University of NH (UNH) and policy makers at the NHDOE, is influencing assessment policy. The article describes two key events ? the closing of NH?s institution for individuals with developmental disabilities and the establishment of the Institute on Disability at UNH ? that provide important historical context for looking at the influence of research on policy in NH. It also discusses how the relationship between IOD researchers and the NHDOE has created opportunities to mediate the translation of research into policy. The paper concludes with a recommendation for how TASH might codify its values in a new Resolution on research that informs educational policy relative to inclusive education.
