Product Description:
A qualitative study using ethnographic methods to directly examine the verbal and non-verbal communications of typically-developing, four-year-old children in the social context of day care. Findings and interpretation reflect on ways in which toys and objects and their meanings are culturally received by young children, and subsequently contested, negotiated, and ultimately both transformed and transforming, in that they simultaneously inform and reflect individual children's emerging sense of self in social context.
