Open-Rank Position in Special Education - College of Education and Human Development, University of Delaware

Position. A new tenure-track open-rank faculty position is available September 1, 2011.
Qualifications and Responsibilities. A doctorate in special education or a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with an influential or promising research program, a record of obtaining external funding (for senior applicants), an interest in promoting collaborative and interdisciplinary research, and teaching experience. Responsibilities include sustaining a significant and vigorous research program in disabilities, supervising doctoral research, and teaching effectively in our graduate and undergraduate programs.
Special Opportunities. Become part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of faculty and doctoral students. Participate in the development of disabilities-related research and instructional programs in the College. Partner with the College's Center for Disabilities Studies, a federallysupported University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, which supports the interdisciplinary disabilities studies minor and promotes a variety of innovative programs and activities.
University and Community. The College of Education and Human Development is comprised of 69 faculty members in the School of Education and 27 faculty in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, as well as seven related centers. Including contracts and grants, the overall budget for the College exceeds $62 million. The College includes faculty with expertise in special education and disabilities studies. The University of Delaware is a privately endowed land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant, and urban-grant institution that receives public support. The University is located in Newark, a town of about 30,000, situated midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore.
