Opportunity Overview

Scion Executive Search is conducting the search for the Senior Vice President of Operations (SVP) on behalf of Mosaic; a wonderful nonprofit that delivers compassionate services and provides a voice to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The SVP is a passionate, determined, highly ethical, motivated, and steadfast leader with a proven track record. This exciting, full time position operates from Mosaic's headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska and reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The SVP is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive array of IDD affiliated programs and services which are delivered throughout a broad national geography, to a diverse population. This position regularly reviews service offerings to evaluate outcomes and determine effective strategic direction. The SVP partners with other organization leaders and affiliated agencies to ensure that systems, processes, and people are aligned and able to achieve high quality, responsive services to people.

Position ResponsibilitiesMosaic is in the midst of an organization wide transition in relation to the delivery of services; moving towards a more personalized, host home model. For more than 20 years, Mosaic has provided improved quality of life, greater stability, and increased community access for people with intellectual disabilities with at-home services. While the group home service delivery model will remain in place, the at home service transition will positively impact approximately 600 individuals within the next three years.

Services through the Mosaic at Home program build lasting relationships between people with intellectual disabilities and a provider who is contracted with Mosaic. Supports are designed around the specific needs and desires of each person. While sharing their home, the provider integrates the person served into the life of the household and the greater community.

In addition to the service delivery transition, the organization is actively engaged in the continued expansion of Mosaic's presence in communities across the United States in order to provide high quality, responsive services to individuals with disabilities. Through an expanding mission, Mosaic will continue to invest in priorities in order to expand sustainable and responsive services.

As an extension of Mosaic's vision, the SVP is responsible for overseeing support agencies to ensure Mosaic's vision and strategic plan are continuously realized. Mosaic is in the midst of a significant transformation involving short and long term service delivery; the individual who is selected for this role will provide an intrinsic ability to expertly support, coach, and lead those who oversee the delivery of services.

The duties of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring operational excellence for intellectual disability program & service delivery, and multi-state staff (throughout ten US states).
  • Driving team accountability through the adherence to standardized processes (related to quality assurance, human resources, development, finance, etc.) as well as the implementation of strategic planning; proactively provides recommendations, considers alternatives, and oversees execution to maximize operations team success.
  • Reporting to the COO and providing regular status updates.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness and sustainability of services; taking action as needed to strengthen programs and achieve objectives.
  • Conducting employee evaluations to provide feedback and review performance.
  • Providing effective and inspiring leadership through coaching and development opportunities.
  • Developing and supporting a culture of accountability and processes which are mission aligned.
  • Encouraging and strengthening an engaged and collaborative agency network; ensuring best practices, systems and processes.
  • Providing inspirational coaching, skill development, and supervision to enhance quality and minimize attrition; leveraging team strengths whenever possible to identify new opportunities and proactively address potential challenges.
  • Developing strategies to sustain Mosaic's International program; including the identification of partner organizations, as well as establishing sustainable funding.
  • Consulting throughout the due diligence process and/ or the development of new services so that new service integrations are successful.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with intellectual/ developmental disabilities and/or behavioral health provider.
  • Proven record of leading complex, multi-state service organization(s) and strategically leveraging strengths across the organization(s).
  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of ten years (10+) of progressive nonprofit experience with operations focused on direct service delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; persuasive and passionate communicator with exceptional public speaking skills strongly desired!
  • Exceptional relationship cultivation and proven experience leading with a diverse, cross functional team.
