Position summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join a research team committed to advancing understanding of the nature, causes and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The position is available for 2 years initially and may be extended. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Depending on qualifications (i.e., those with a PhD or equivalent) and experience the successful applicant will have the opportunity to pursue independent research interests in the area of ADHD in conjunction with ongoing Unit research (ADHD research themes: motivational factors; language and social communication skills; targeted parenting programs).

Position:
Staff Scientist/Clinical Psychologist in the Human Developmental Neurobiology Unit

Responsibilities:

The staff scientist/clinical psychologist will participate in:
1.   Recruitment and assessment of English speaking children (age 6-12 years) and their families;
2.   Preparation of assessment reports;
3.   Scoring, management and analysis of data;
4.   Preparation of professional manuscripts and presentations.

Peer supervision of clinical assessments is provided by experienced PhD level Clinical Psychologists and mentoring of research by the unit leader and senior researchers within the unit.

Qualifications:
(Required)

  1.   Applicants must have graduate qualifications in clinical psychology (e.g., PhD in clinical 
      psychology, PhD or Masters and Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology), or a closely 
      related field, and be licensed/registered or license-eligible in the state/country in which they
      received their professional training in clinical psychology.
  2.   PhD level applicants intending to carry out research should also have a high degree of proficiency
      in statistical methods and scientific writing.

(Preferred)

  1.    Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the assessment and diagnosis of 
       neurodevelopmental and externalizing behavior disorders, particularly ADHD.
  2.    Completion of advanced courses and/or practicum in child psychological assessment and
       neuropsychology is highly desirable.
  3.    Strong desire to pursue a career in research.
  4.    The ability to communicate in Japanese would be an advantage for living in Japan, but is not
       required for the position.
