Director of Division of Child & Community Health - Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, University of Iowa

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking faculty candidates for Director of the Division of Child & Community Health which operates Iowa's statewide Title V program for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) under the Title V Maternal & Child Health Block Grant, Iowa Department of Public Health. The position will have responsibility for public health policy, child advocacy and regionalized care coordination and clinical services, and will assume the duties of Title V-CYSHCN Director. The position may provide clinical expertise to the Title V Maternal & Child Health program administered through the Iowa Department of Public Health, Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention.

The successful candidate will partner with other divisions within the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics to develop new clinical and research programs. Responsibilities also include leadership in Title V strategic planning, serving as the Principal Investigator for multiple discretionary grants, and providing vision for emerging public health issues. The Division serves the state with 15 centers across the state, ~150 staff and estimated $11M budget. Opportunities exist for teaching, clinical services, and public health research.

Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (clinical or tenure track), depending upon qualifications.

Required qualifications:
Must hold MD/DO or equivalent
Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics
Experience in public policy/child advocacy
Demonstrated experience promoting a diverse workforce/academic environment

Desired qualifications:
MPH, MPA, MHA, or public health experience or equivalency,
Demonstrated leadership experience in operation of a large scale service/program.
Previous Title V experience
Experience with grant writing, successful awards and project management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Previous work in an interdisciplinary model of care

The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of UI Children's Hospital. The University of Iowa Children's Hospital is one of the nation's top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa's only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2015-16 the University of Iowa Children's Hospital ranked in nine pediatric specialties in the Best Children's Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. A new 189-bed children's hospital is scheduled to open in 2016.
