Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's DNA Learning Center (DNALC) has an immediate opening for a Program Evaluator to conduct mixed-methods studies of its existing portfolio of grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH). These include innovative teacher training and student programs on biotechnology, genomics, and DNA barcoding at the high school and university levels. The successful candidate will become a member of an elite, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in modern biology education. This is a great full- or part-time opportunity for someone who would like to do evaluation research in the context of world-class scientific research institute.

A part-time position would focus on existing NSF and NIH programs, while a full-time position would include additional responsibilities: 1) Evaluating outcomes of DNALC field trips and summer camps for local students. 2) Developing evaluation plans for new grant proposals and projects. 3) Analyzing use of DNALC websites and multimedia resources.

The Program Evaluator will liaise with DNALC staff and external collaborators and consultants, and will disseminate evaluation results reports, conference abstracts, and publications. This position demands a motivated, self-starter with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills, and collaborative spirit.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor's and preferably advanced degree in some combination of science, education, and evaluation.
- Specific evaluation experience in an education, museum, or science center setting.
- Experience with project management and reporting.
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and data analysis software.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Occasional domestic travel required. Possibility of travel to licensed DNALC partners in China and Mexico.
