Executive Director - Art Enables, Washington, DC

Posted: Thursday, July 23, 2015

For over ten years, the goals of Art Enables have been to provide artists with developmental disabilities with all of the support they need to create wonderfully honest and idiosyncratic artwork, and to develop and reach an audience for that work. The program provides about 30 artists with studio space, supplies, a gallery, a first-class marketing website, access to exhibitions around the region and daily help and encouragement. We are a small organization with a total of four full-time employees, volunteers and a Board of Directors that provides support. Art Enables is an entrepreneurial organization; we pride ourselves on giving our artists the opportunity to achieve validation in the marketplace. Our Executive Director must be a hands-on manager as well as a person with vision and the ability to formulate and implement strategic objectives. It is the ED's duty to maintain the sound functioning of Art Enables at the organizational, fiscal and programmatic levels. Funding for the program is a combination of individual and corporate donors, grants, and Medicaid payments.
