Position Description Overview:

The successful candidate for this full time position as Community Training Director (CTD) will oversee grant- and contract-funded training for professionals, individuals with disabilities and family members.  Primary responsibilities include:  taking the lead role in writing training grants and contracts, directing the activities of training grants, managing personnel involved in training activities, and tracking timelines and deliverables in compliance with required reporting processes. The CTD will also develop collaborative training initiatives with community, state and national partners and will work towards achieving a robust distance training capacity.  The CTD will take the initiative on incorporating new and emerging technology and smart technology in moving this agenda forward.  He/she will disseminate training results, participate in state- and national-level meetings and conferences, and provide coordination and support for community training activities under UCEDD and LEND.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD/EdD or equivalent degree
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; assures meaningful participation by all, especially by people with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Excellent skills in training, leadership and management
  • Experience in online and distance training and in the use of new and emerging instructional technology
  • Grant writing skills and success in obtaining grant funding for training
  • Experience in working in systems/programs/projects related to intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Excellent skills in: planning and project management; preparing and maintaining accurate records; reviewing and interpreting technical and statistical information; planning and conducting meetings, trainings, and presentations
  • Evidence of scholarly work in training/education
  • Five to ten years of experience in a similar position
  • Eligible for a faculty appointment at the NYMC School of Health Sciences and Practice

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Management and Evaluation of Community Training (50%)

o   Create and oversee community training projects (continuing professional education; training for people
     with intellectual disabilities and for family members)

o   Manage workflow to assure deadlines and goals are met

o   Identify and evaluate funding sources and potential grant opportunities that are in  line with LEND and
     UCEDD goals

o   Oversee faculty and staff in drafting and submitting applications for funding

 

Lead and Support Evaluation of Training and Technical Assistance (35%)

o   Provide consultation, coordination and support to faculty and staff in the design and implementation of
     evaluations of training  and technical assistance activities

 

Dissemination and Evaluation Results (15%)

o   Disseminate  results by writing and submitting manuscripts as well as through presentations

o   Participate in conferences, webinars and technical assistance workshops that focus on training and
     evaluation

o   Foster current and create new training and other collaborative relationships at the local, state and
     national levels
