Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship: Interdisciplinary Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities - Center for Child Health and Development (CCHD), University of Kansas Medical Center

The Center for Child Health and Development (CCHD), located at the University of Kansas Medical Center, is recruiting Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellows for the 2015-2016 academic year. The CCHD includes interdisciplinary faculty that work collaboratively to provide clinical services, conduct research, engage in community outreach, and provide graduate and post-graduate training in the field of autism and other developmental disabilities. Potential candidates for this fellowship should have the following qualifications: 1) doctorate in an accredited psychology program, 2) experience working with children and adolescents, 3) knowledge of standardized assessment instruments, and 4) desire for additional training and career aspirations working with children and families impacted by neurodevelopmental and related disabilities. Applicants should be comfortable working in a team setting with an interest in both clinical and leadership training.

The mission of the CCHD is advancing the health, development, and well-being of children at risk, or who have developmental disabilities, and supporting their families through the provision of: (1) exemplary clinical service; (2) interdisciplinary leadership training; (3) outreach training and technical assistance and (4) collaborative academic research. The CCHD has a specific focus in the area of autism spectrum disorders and a partner with the Kansas Center for Autism Research and Training (KCART).

The intent of our training program is to facilitate skills working as members of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams serving children and adolescents with a variety of developmental disabilities and collaborating with community organizations and government systems that provide services for these populations. Special emphasis includes skills in providing culturally competent, family-centered and community-based services. We also focus on clinical leadership abilities including research, outreach training and technical assistance, as well as skills in systems change and systems advocacy.

Maternal and Child Health funding supports the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) training program, including post-doctoral fellows in psychology and advanced graduate students from a variety of health related professions. The LEND training program is one of 43 LEND programs across 37 states and part of a national network on interdisciplinary training in developmental disabilities (http://www.aucd.org/template/page.cfm?id=473). The salary range is consistent with NIH guidelines. Grant requirements stipulate that funded trainees are citizens of the United States or have a permanent residence visa.  The one year, 40 hour a week Post Doctoral Psychology Fellow position begins as early as July of 2014 and includes 2 weeks of paid vacation. The deadline for applications is Monday, February 1, 2015 or until position filled.
