Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) from an accredited institution preferred. A candidate without a terminal degree, but with significant, high-level professional achievement in Electronic Media Management or a related field, and an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree may be considered for the position.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience in media management (programming, audience research, station/network operations, program development, sales) at the university or college level preferred.
  • Publication or demonstrated evidence of substantial professional experience in media management - programming, audience research, station/network operations, program development and/or sales - desired.
  • Demonstrated experience to effectively work with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Interest in developing interdisciplinary programs with other units in the University.
  • Willingness to participate in the university's commitment to obtaining research and creative activity support from federal, state, corporate, and foundation sponsored programs desired.

At the time of appointment, the successful applicant, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:  Teaching intermediate and advanced courses in media regulations, audience research, media management, sales/marketing, media programming and/or broadcast history. Conduct research and/or professional activity in the field of media management. Advise students and participate in faculty governance. For purposes of reappointment, tenure, and promotion, emphasis will be placed on teaching effectiveness, scholarly and/or professional achievement, and service to the University and community. Faculty are expected to contribute professionally at the state and national levels. Teaching may be assigned in a second area of expertise appropriate to the qualifications of the candidate, including courses in the General Education Curriculum.
