SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provides comprehensive physical therapy assessment, treatment, consultation and coordination to Children's Clinics eligible patients. Experience treating pediatric patients with Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Neuromuscular disorders, and other complex neurologic or orthopedic conditions.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree from accredited Physical Therapy program. Minimum of one year related experience. New graduates with clinical education experience in pediatrics will be considered.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provides a full range of PT services to patients with a broad range of diagnoses and orthopedic or neurological problems, including those with bracing & equipment needs.
  • Conducts age-appropriate clinical & functional PT assessments, develops therapy treatment plans based upon assessment findings & patient/family input.
  • Provides advanced level-direct patient treatment, according to treatment plan, updating treatment plan according to patient progress and established policies.
  • Participates, as appropriate, in delivery, fitting, and modification of bracing and equipment. Provides appropriate patient training and education in use of bracing or adaptive equipment.
  • Documents assessments, treatments, consultations, patient/family education, and all relevant and required patients care information, according to established policy. Maintains patient record confidentiality consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Fabricates tone inhibition casts and lower extremity splints and provides patient/family instruction in care and use.
  • Maintains soft care environment for patients; collaborates in maintenance of therapy equipment and supplies inventories.
  • Provides physical therapy consultation to Orthopedic, Cerebral Palsy, MM, Neurology, Neuromuscular, Rheumatology, and other medical specialty clinics as assigned.
  • Serves as educator in appropriate areas to patients, families, clinic staff, school staff, and others involved in patient care and programming.
  • Participates in quality improvement and program development activities in specialty area, work team and as assigned, in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products. Ability to operate personal computer, Dictaphone, printer, calculator, fax, shredder, copier, and other office equipment needed to document the patients' care within established timeframes.
